The Ninth Concert

The Ninth Concert

Saturday January 24 2007 – Kelowna Community Theatre, Kelowna, BC

Entering their second year of concerts and performances, All In All It’s Just braved the winter weather and travelled to Kelowna once again to be the headline act for the kickoff of the Kelowna Snowfest, presented by POWER 104 FM (now known as 104.7 The Lizzard).. The concert was held at the Kelowna Community Theatre and was well received by the sold-out audience. History has shown that this was one of the last Snowfests ever held in Kelowna, which is disappointing. However, the band was very happy to have participated and look back fondly on the experience.

All In All It’s Just returns to Kelowna the following September (The Eighteenth Concert) for the Pink & Purple Concert.

From the 1987 album A Momentary Lapse of Reason, On The Turning Away is one of the most beautiful, complex and political songs that Pink Floyd recorded without Roger Waters. The lyrics are just as valid and important today as they were in 1987. The words we all need to remember will be placed under the video and are also shown on the video itself.

What you are hearing is recorded off the soundboard during the performance by All In All It’s Just at the Sid Williams Theatre, Courtenay, BC, on the evening of February 12, 2007, which is the last time that the original band members performed together. The photos are from various concerts, older photos in the first half and later photos in the second (instrumental) half, showing the different personnel over time.

ON THE TURNING AWAY

On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won’t understand
“Don’t accept that what’s happening
Is just a case of others’ suffering
Or you’ll find that you’re joining in
The turning away”
It’s a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting it’s shroud
Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we’re all alone
In the dream of the proud
On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite
In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
And mesmerized as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night

No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It’s not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there’ll be
No more turning away?
