The First Concert

The First Concert

Friday June 16 2006 – Tidemark Theatre, Campbell River, British Columbia

Everyone was nervous. All the members of the band were seasoned professionals, but even still, going into the first performance together in front of a live audience who had paid good money to come and see you, the nerves were frayed. They were very worried about how the audience was going to react to our performance. This is Pink Floyd music. Pink Floyd were never on a Top 40 Pop Radio play list (with the exception of Another Brick In The Wall), so most of the audience would not have a wide knowledge of the music. Especially the tunes from Floyd’s early albums that were on the set list.

The Tidemark has a relatively small stage. When you consider that this is an eight member band with a lot of instruments, amplifiers and lighting, it was crowded. This is a Pink Floyd show; there has to be a large light show! Because of the small size of the stage, the band members had to be arranged a bit differently than what was planned, but everyone got their own space to perform. The stage was set, sound check was completed, the lighting was ready, now we waited for showtime.

And so it began …

… and at the end of the performance the audience gave All In All It’s Just a standing ovation. It was a huge success and a valuable moral-booster for the band, who were high-fiving each other as they came off the stage. It proved to the band members (and this includes the musicians, technicians, roadies and helpers) that all their hard work had paid off. Now they had the confidence to carry on to their next June 2006 concerts in Nanaimo and Courtenay.

This is a video of the first Pink Floyd song performed at the first All In All It’s Just concert performance. The audio on this video is actually from the February 12 2007 concert at the Sid Williams Theatre in Courtenay BC. The photographs are from various concerts. However, a few of the photos were taken at this first concert in Campbell River.
