The Eleventh Concert

The Eleventh Concert

Thursday February 1 2007 – The Port Theatre, Nanaimo, BC

The Port TheatreAll In All It’s Just drives down the Inland Island Highway once again, returning to Nanaimo eight months after their first concert at The Port. Word has spread in a positive way about the band and the Theatre is close to a sellout by the time the show starts. During a break between songs, a gentleman in the audience yells out “You guys are magic!”. The members of All In All are very appreciative and humbled hearing reactions such as this from the audience. All the musicians in the band are amateurs, with the exception of Dave Lyons (bass) who is a full-time professional musician. The others have ‘day jobs’ and do this for the love of performing music. It has been said that this band is greater than its’ individual parts, and there is truth in that statement. Another successful show completed, another standing ovation, another drive back up the highway to home base. Stay tuned!

Shine On You Crazy Diamond was released by Pink Floyd in 1975 on their exceptional Wish You Were Here album. The composition was split into two segments: Parts 1 – V appearing on side 1 and Parts VI – IX on side 2. It was written and recorded as an ode to original Pink Floyd member Syd Barrett, who had become separated from the band because of mental health problems and was replaced by David Gilmour. In the video below you can hear and see All In All It’s Just perform Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I – IV) on February 12 2007 at the Sid Williams Theatre, Courtenay, BC. Whenever they performed this tune, it always brought a huge cheer from the audience. Sit back and listen to an absolute classic in rock music history. Lyrics appear below the video. Shine on!

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I – IV)

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun
Shine on you crazy diamond
Now there’s a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky
Shine on you crazy diamond
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom
Blown on the steel breeze
Come on you target for faraway laughter
Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon
Shine on you crazy diamond
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light
Shine on you crazy diamond
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision
Rode on the steel breeze
Come on you raver, you seer of visions
Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine

Songwriters: David Jon Gilmour / Richard Wright / Roger Waters
